Welcome to the Nanostructured Photovoltaics Group!.

Nowadays the world is facing the challenging problem of sustainability. Emerging countries are demanding the consumption patterns of the First World, applying stresses on available resources where the energy supply is not an exception. Also, the emission of greenhouse gases of our present energy transformation processes based on fossil fuels is the main cause of global climatic change. Within this scenario, we believe that fundamental research on novel photovoltaic concepts (aiming for a breakthrough) will contribute for the achievement of sustainability within the next decades.
In the Nanostructured Photovoltaics group we aim developing device architectures that exploit the potential of nanotechnology. Our ambition is to unravel and tailor the optoelectronic properties of nanometer sized semiconductors for obtaining low cost-high efficiency solar cell and fuel devices. Our approach is multidisciplinary, combining fundamental research on sample's physico-chemistry with solar cell device engineering.
